How do I format my hard drive before installing Windows 7?
I have the downloaded version of the Windows 7 setup, so i don’t have the disk, and I want to format the hard drive and start fresh with Windows 7. When i get to the part of setup where it asks which partition i wish to put windows on, it tells me “to make changes to partitions, restart windows from the installation disk.” Since i don’t have the disk is there any way i can still start fresh?

Burn it to a bootable disc or USB drive.
They’ve also now made bootable ISO’s available for those who downloaded the non-ISO version prior.
If you want to full format the drive, do it within the installation process itself when you have the option. Don’t do it separately first.

There should have been instructions provide for you when you purchased your product key. If not here are the installation instructions for Windows 7-
