How do you upgrade to windows 7 64bit from windows 7 32bit?
I got the windows 7 dvd and installed it on my computer. ( I previously had vista home premium) When I was done installing it I checked and I had 32bit OS. I wanted 64. How do I change it? And will it involve wiping my hard drive?

I don’t think there’s an ‘upgrade’ option from a 32 bit version to a 64 bit version. You would most probably have to re-install 7. And if you installed a 32 bit version, I believe the DVD you have is of a 32 bit version, which means you ‘ll have to spend more bucks to get a 64 bit one. Do make sure your system can support a 64-bit Operating System, before you install, because, otherwise you’re screwed

If you buy a boxed store version, it’s supposed to come with both 32-bit and 64-bit discs. There are *two* Windows 7 DVDs in each normal package. You need to use the other one to install.
And yes, you have to fresh install when moving between 32-bit and 64-bit. You might try using the built-in Windows Easy Transfer wizard to move things over though.
