What is the difference between Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium full version and the Windows 7 Home upgrade?



I have two laptops and one PC which are all running Windows Vista at the moment. I see you can buy a Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade – 3 User Family Pack for £129.99 but I am not sure if this will be fine for my three computers or if I need to buy three Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium full versions. Any advice would be great.

    The upgrade discs want to see a prior genuine Windows install to go in.

    The full discs have the ability to go directly to a blank hard drive without there being a Windows OS present first.

    Both the upgrade discs AND the full discs can actually do fresh install or in-place upgrades (from Vista) where your files, settings, and programs get carried over. It’s your choice during installation.

    If you already have Vista on the computers you’re installing to, you should be fine with the upgrade discs, and the family 3-pack is a great deal for that. It would still normally be recommended to backup what you need and fresh install rather than do an in-place upgrade though. But you can get the upgrade discs and decide later during installation exactly what you want to do and why.
